2025 Tournament | Bean Campout

The 42nd Annual Bean Camping Tournament was held on September 5th & 6th at a new venue in Waller, Texas.

Attendance took a step back as the number of competitors dropped from 17 in 2024 to 11 in 2025. Competitors battling for the trophy included:

→ 5 returning champions: James Bean, John "Senior" Bean, Danny Bean, Michael Muhs & John "J.T." Bean.

→ 5 returning players: Shane Bean, Richie Wells, Jordan Brown, Andy Huber & Braxton Bean.

→ 1 newcomer or "fodder": Jason Chad.

The singular question heading into 2025 was if anyone could stop Danny's run of 4 tournaments in a row? The tournament began with 3 games on day 1, which were Putt-Putt, Horseshoes and Croquet.

In Putt-Putt it came down to Shane and Danny and while Danny took game 1, Shane sealed the deal to win the first event. The second event completed on Day 1 was Horseshoes. The shoes championship was between Danny and James, and without losing a game, Danny took the victory to complete the second event of the day. Finally, the chess match of croquet came down to James and Jordan. To the surprise of no one, James walked away with the victory. At the end of day 1, Danny had a slim lead with 7points with Jordan trailing closely behind at 9points and behind him was Shane at 12 points.

The events planned for Day 2 were washers, basketball and darts. First up was basketball, which played out in a foreboding fashion as in the final 3 games, Jordan beat Danny, Danny beat Jordan and finally Jordan beat Danny to seal his first event of the tournament. Next up was washers where the very first match was Jordan vs Danny. Jordan knocked Danny into the losers bracket where he would not return. From there Jordan cruised all the way to take his second event of the tournament, narrowly surviving James' attempt to double dip him.

As night fell, the final event of darts was beginning. Jordan had 11 points through 5 events and was trailed by Danny at 14.5pts. With a bye in round 1, a crowd gathered to watch Jordan's first match as he beat Michael Muhs in the 2nd round. This left him with a match against Braxton to guarantee 3rd place in darts and to mathematically secure his tournament victory. With little drama and a smile on his face he won the match, and finally became the champion of the 2025 Annual Bean Camping Tournament. Jordan is only the 9th person in the 40+ year history to add his name to the list of champions and the 1st time we've had a new champion since Drew Lamont in 2019.
